Rochelle Park Hosts Annual Bridge Day

Rochelle Park Hosts Annual Bridge Day

The transition from middle school to high school can be a challenging time for students, especially those in therapeutic schools. To help with this process, each year Sage Alliance schools host a Bridge Day for our 8th grade students from our Mahwah campus to visit our Rochelle Park campus. The day was filled with activities to help ease the transition and provide a glimpse into high school life.

Mr. Friedland, Principal, and Mrs. Stone, Clinical Director at our Rochelle Park campus, welcomed the students and started the program with an icebreaker game called Human Bingo, which encouraged students to get to know each other and break down barriers. Afterwards, our National Honor Society (NHS) students acted as tour guides and mentors, showing the 8th graders around the building, classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and more. Along the way, students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the high school experience.

Breakout sessions were also included, featuring art, music, and gym activities like pickleball. These sessions allowed students to explore their interests and get a taste of the extracurricular activities available in high school.

At the end of the day, our high school and middle school students enjoyed a pizza lunch together and had the chance to reflect on what they had learned and experienced. Overall, the day was a success, and we hope that our 8th grade students feel more prepared and excited for the transition to high school.
